Properties Built During 1978 and Before
For any home built in or before 1978, there is a chance the property contains lead-based paint. Federal regulations require a disclosure to be provided to all tenants as part of their lease agreement. Click here to download the Lead Based Paint pamphlet.
Georgia Landlord Tenant Handbook
This handbook gives a practical look at Georgia’s residential landlord-tenant laws and answers some common questions that often come up in these situations. It does not cover commercial or business leases. Every situation is different, and the right solution depends on the specific facts of the case. Because of this, the information here is meant as a general guide and might not fit your exact circumstances.
While both landlords and tenants may find this handbook useful, it’s not a replacement for professional legal advice. The content reflects Georgia law as of the last update, but laws can change, so it’s a good idea to double-check the latest information if you’re dealing with a legal issue.
In Georgia, there isn’t a government office that can step in to settle landlord-tenant disputes or make either side act a certain way. If you can’t work things out directly, the next step is to go through the court system, either on your own or with help from a lawyer.
